For this year’s winter exhibition, the Edinburgh Gallery Society is proud to present ‘Insight.’, an exhibition exploring the plurality of perspectives and experiences that may overlay one city.

Showcasing a wide range of artworks across a number of media, the curatorial design of the exhibition aims to highlight how diversity brings a city together, rather than divides us. Departing from the traditional classifications of form and theme used by art institutions, the immersive, interconnected visual experience of ‘Insight.’ overlaps and interacts with each other and the visitor, bringing to light the diverse, but unified, community of artists within the heart of Edinburgh.

The EGS is hosting this exhibition in collaboration with Edinburgh RAG, donating a portion of our revenue from the exhibition towards the Pilton Community Health Project and FreshStart as part of our continued efforts to decrease inequalities across the cultural sector and our home-city of Edinburgh. The Pilton Community Health Project is a local non-profit dedicated to addressing the impact of long-term poverty and health inequalities by supporting disadvantaged families and communities across North Edinburgh through a number of well-being programs. FreshStart, assists people transitioning out of homelessness into tenancies across Edinburgh and through increasing access to household items and setting up homes for those transitioning.

The Gallery Society’s aim is to create a contemporary student art community within Edinburgh and the University. They provide a platform for Edinburgh students and beyond, to exhibit their work in a professional art environment, bridging the gap between student and professional artistic practice. ‘Insight.’ is an opportunity for visitors to witness the works of upcoming and talented artists represented by the society.
