RE-KNEW-ED

RE-KNEW-ED

Jan 15th-18th, 2022 | Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh

The Gallery Society’s Winter Exhibition is the second show of work by the University of Edinburgh Society. Featuring the work of over 40 Edinburgh-based, student artists, the show includes a variety of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, performance, and audio work.

The Gallery Society’s aim is to create a contemporary student art community within the University and in Edinburgh. They provide a platform for Edinburgh students and beyond, to showcase their work in a professional art environment, bridging the gap between student and professional artistic practice. RE-KNEW-ED is an opportunity for visitors to witness the works of upcoming and talented artists represented by the society.

The committee has worked extremely hard to curate and run this exhibition, and couldn’t be more proud to show you what they have achieved. This display, which has been thoughtfully selected from their open call in which over 125 artworks were submitted, draws on the renewed perspective we now have on life as we emerge from the pandemic, the idea of re-knowing life as we knew it, and how we may use this as an opportunity to restart, reinvent, repurpose and get to re-know our world.

Opening shortly after the new year, during refreshers week, and at time of reflection and resolution, they present the responses of a new generation of artists, renewing and reimagining the creative scene that they live in.
