Oche Light, From Gold, & Warmth

I was born on a yacht; the sky and sea my television. The elements are in my blood and I am inspired by the land and the sea: the sky over water, the reflections, the play of light, how one affects the other. I frequently work outdoors, finding comfort and meaning through the exploration of wild and elemental landscapes. Painting on site enables me to fully and mindfully immerse myself in my environment, cultivating a deeper understanding and meditative connection with my subject matter.

This academic year I investigated the menthod of repitition. Visitng North Berwick beach every week seems at glance a humble ritual, but in fact became key in analystically and inquisitively investigating my subject matter. The approach of my practice combines on-site and studio work. Works made on site, at North Berwick capture the mood and essence of the place. Once back in the studio, works are developed, intensified, and translated to new surfaces.

These works are 3/6 works as part of my 'Colour and Light' series. The series was made partially on-site and inspired by colour observation at North Berwick beach. The paintings aim to capture the raw physicality of the landscape.
